Along the road from Beaune to Pernand, Les Vergelesses occupies a gentle east-facing slope. Limestone beds hold red, iron-rich earth.
Soil Iron-rich clay and limestone beds
Grapes arrive in small crates and are sorted before vatting. Fermentation lasts around fifteen days with punch-downs, followed by barrel ageing with 20% new oak. Bellows-assisted racking limits handling.
A silky red with fresh blackcurrant and redcurrant notes. Woodland aromas appear with age.
